About us.

We are an Australian literary society which aims to knit together in a common bond of friendship lovers of that great master of humour and pathos, the nineteenth-century English novelist Charles Dickens.

Meetings are held regularly in the Sydney CBD. The NSW Dickens Society is a branch of the International Dickens Fellowship. New members are welcome.

Our Patron is Miriam Margolyes OBE.

Our activities include:

Regular Meetings

Meetings on a Saturday morning every second month, with a speaker on a Dickens topic of interest, and social lunch following

Annual Gathering

Annual gathering at the Dickens statue in Sydney’s Centennial Park on his birthday, 7th February

Annual Excursion & Christmas Lunch

Annual Dickens-themed excursion in July and Christmas lunch in December

Writing Competition

Writing competition, “The Huffam Prize” (for articles on Charles Dickens related topics)
